Upscale image to 4K

Set the long edge to 3840 pixels, the width of a 4K UHD screen, in one step. The instant upscale runs on your device; the AI detail pass rebuilds fine texture for prints and big displays.

Drop a photo here, or tap to chooseJPEG, PNG or WebP. It opens in your browser; nothing is uploaded unless you press an AI button.

Instant upscale runs on your device. The AI detail pass sends a 1024px copy to our AI provider, which redraws fine texture; the result is then scaled to your chosen size (capped at 4096px wide).

How to upscale image to 4K

  1. Open your photo

Best results come from the original file, not a screenshot or a copy saved from a chat app.

  2. Upscale to 4K

4K is preselected. The panel shows the exact output pixels and megapixels.

  3. Check and save

Turn on the loupe to inspect edges. Save PNG for editing or JPEG for sharing.

How much upscaling 4K needs

A 12-megapixel phone photo is about 4000 × 3000 pixels and is already 4K wide. A 1080p frame needs 2×. A 960px image from a messaging app needs 4×, which means 15 of every 16 pixels are invented. The bigger the jump, the more the AI detail pass helps.

For 4K wallpapers, crop to 16:9 first with the resizer so the upscale goes into pixels you will actually see.

Questions people ask

Can I upscale any image to 4K?

Yes, as long as your device has the memory. A 4K output is about 8 to 12 megapixels, which every modern phone and laptop handles.

Is 4K the same as 3840 × 2160?

4K UHD is 3840 × 2160 for 16:9 screens. This tool sets the long edge to 3840px and keeps your photo’s own aspect ratio, so a 4:3 photo becomes 3840 × 2880.

Is AI upscaling to 4K better?

For textures like hair, foliage and fabric, usually yes. For text, numbers and logos, the instant upscale is safer because AI can invent wrong characters.
