Runs entirely in your browser. "KB" here means 1,000 bytes; if a form counts 1,024, pick a target a few percent lower.

How to compress image to 100 KB

  1. Open the image

JPEG, PNG or WebP. Your original size appears next to the result.

  2. Compress

100 KB is preselected. Other presets run from 20 KB to 1 MB, or type a custom size.

  3. Download

Check the shown size and quality, then download. Try WebP for an even smaller file at the same quality.

Why size limits trip people up

A phone photo is typically 2–5 MB because it holds about 12 million pixels. Getting to 100 KB means either fewer pixels or stronger compression. This tool tries quality first, which keeps full resolution where possible, and only scales down when quality alone would look poor.

PNG files are lossless and usually much bigger than JPEG for photos. Converting a PNG photo to JPEG is often enough to get under 100 KB.

Questions people ask

How do I compress a JPEG to 100 KB?

Open it, keep the 100 KB target and press Compress. Download the result; its exact size is shown first.

JPEG or WebP?

WebP is usually smaller at similar quality (Google’s WebP studies report about 25–34% smaller), but some upload forms only accept JPEG. If in doubt, use JPEG.

Can I compress without losing quality?

Not to a fixed small size. Lossless formats cannot guarantee a target size; JPEG and WebP trade a little invisible detail for much smaller files.
