HD image converter

Pick HD, Full HD, 2K or 4K and your photo is enlarged to exactly that long edge on your own device, with edge detail restored. Run the AI pass when you need real texture, not just more pixels.

Drop a photo here, or tap to chooseJPEG, PNG or WebP. It opens in your browser; nothing is uploaded unless you press an AI button.

Instant upscale runs on your device. The AI detail pass sends a 1024px copy to our AI provider, which redraws fine texture; the result is then scaled to your chosen size (capped at 4096px wide).

Using the hd image converter

  1. Open the image

Any JPEG, PNG or WebP. The current size shows in the strip above the photo.

  2. Choose the HD size

HD is 1280px on the long edge, Full HD 1920px, 2K 2560px and 4K 3840px. The output size updates live.

  3. Convert and save

Press Upscale, inspect with the loupe, then save PNG (lossless) or JPEG (smaller).

What "HD" actually means

HD is a screen resolution, not a quality setting. 720p "HD" is 1280 × 720 pixels, 1080p "Full HD" is 1920 × 1080, and "4K UHD" is 3840 × 2160 (the ITU-R BT.2020 UHDTV format). A photo is "HD" once it has at least that many pixels on its long edge.

Converting a small image to HD adds pixels by interpolation. That makes it display large without blocks, but it cannot recover detail the camera never captured. The AI detail pass goes further by predicting plausible texture; check faces and text with the loupe before you use the result.

Questions people ask

How do I convert an image to HD?

Open it here, choose HD, Full HD, 2K or 4K, press Upscale and save. The long edge is set to exactly that many pixels and the other side keeps your aspect ratio.

Is HD image conversion free?

Yes. The converter runs in your browser with no account and no watermark. The optional AI detail pass is also free, with an hourly limit per visitor.

Will converting to HD make a blurry photo sharp?

Not by itself. Upscaling enlarges what is there. Fix blur first with the unblur tool, then convert to HD.

What if my photo is already bigger than HD?

The tool warns you, and converting would shrink it. Use the image resizer if you want a smaller copy on purpose.
